XenuBarb,

Thanks for setting up this message board for victims and warding off possible future folks looking for a rehab for themselves or loved ones.

Best of luck with this board! :)

Thanks!

I've done a lot of research and posted a bunch of stuff here in hopes that people will come to realize that Narconon and its front groups should be seriously analyzed before folks plunk down their $$$

I hate to sound pedantic, but information is knowledge, and there's darn little researching on these programs going on with people who are desperate to help their loved ones.

I really hope that people will make use of this board. All I've been doing lately is working on digging up topics that might be useful. I appreciate your support.

The whole thing is truly insane! Why do these front groups get public funding?
Ignorance.

It's that simple.

Well, as of 2/14/07 the 30K+ check has cleared and the desperate parents have left their unwell, unsuspecting son in Vista Bay, the Narconon Northern California facility...OMG!!! Soooo, when those ten days are up I guess my son and I will have a real heart to heart. He may do drugs but he still has a brain cell or two left and is healthy thus far. You all have scared the holy beejebers out of me (rightfully so I imagine). Wish us luck. I know it his choice to make, and I know we all have paid with blood, sweat and tears to make a "magic" happen, that only he can make happen.
Keep up the good communiques. Does anyone have firsthand knowledge and experience with this particular Narconon location???
MM

Vista Bay? You mean the Narconon in Watsonville?
Yes. It has been in the news before.

Mortified Mom, please keep checking in on your son while he is in the withdrawal area. If you were given a number (Patient Support Service) to get a status report then call every day and keep track of your efforts. One of my chief complaints regarding Stonehawk is that only one time did our calls for information about my son get returned (at least 10 separate daily requests were made). If your son decides to continue with the program, seek more specifics on the sauna-vitamins-medical qualifications of persons administering vitamins and overseeing his physical tolerance- any additional consents he is asked to sign. When answers are not provided or insufficient, it would be appropriate to discuss these concerns with the facility administrator and seek financial refund with termination of the program (for safety or any other concerns). Keep your own documentation (time, dates, messages left, etc), in case you would find a need to pursue legal action. The squeeky wheel does get the grease in health care settings, do not be silent. Your son may find his first calls are monitored so he may not feel safe to talk freely so use your "mother's instincts" too. If the facility claims they can not share any information because of privacy laws, your son can sign a consent to have information shared with you (demand to speak with your son if you are told he refuses to do so). Good luck and best wishes for you and your family.

if you feel that your son cant talk freely when he first calls you go out and get him a phone card you can read him the numbers over the phone and then he can call you from the other phones. just make sure he rights down the info with out annoucing what he is doing to the guy in the room. also they are going to make him sign a seperate consent form on the day he starts sauna. it basicly says that there are no medical or physical benifits from the sauna (haha) and that he waives all liability if he becomes sick. call and ask them to fax it to you if you want to read it before he sign. and i can tell you the new person in charge of the sauna was a withdrawl specialties less then three months ago so at best she has been in the sauna area for 60 days. and i can garintee you she has no medical backround

good luck
keep you son safe
